Pinfest 2013 Opens Tomorrow - Last Chance!
Pinfest 2013 will officially open at 9:30am tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Hosted by the Newcastle Pinball Association and sponsored by Highway Entertainment this weekend long event will be held at Caves Beachside Hotel and will feature over 30 classic pinball machines for visitors to play, as well as a number of super fun arcade machines too! Pinfest 2013 is a charity festival for pinball collectors and enthusiasts to dust off their machines and meet like-minded individuals. This is second year for the festival and follows the success of their debut 2012 event which raised $6500 for the SIDS for Kids Foundation, which is dedicated to saving the lives of babies and children during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood and supporting bereaved families.

The event aims to bring together collectors and fans to show case what pinball culture is all about and to show case gaming culture before home electronic consoles exploded onto the market. Exhibitors at the event are all enthusiasts looking to spread the word about the thing they love most and want to meet and talk to anyone who shows an interest in pinballs and arcade gaming as well.

The festival will feature a number of modern, retro and vintage pins which will be set to free-play for attendees to enjoy. Collectors and enthusiasts will be coming from all over the country to show off their machines and answer all and any questions about pinball.

With over 30 pins currently booked to exhibit at this years annual Pinfest, this years festival is set to be bigger then before. Some of the pins lined up for the event so far include classics like Bally's Key West (1956) and King Tut (1969) pinball, and modern favourites such as the Addams Family (1992)by Bally, Jurassic Park (1993) by Data East and the Sopranos (2004) by Stern.

Highway Entertainment, who is a major sponsor of the event, will also be present. Highway Entertainment will be representing the arcade sector of the amusement industry, to complement the pinball celebration. It will be Highway's first time exhibiting at a public event in Newcastle and will be exhibiting machines such as the Road Fighters 3D driving machine, the Pacman Battle Royale, Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion, Initial D6, some Classic LCD Arcade Tables and the GameWizard Vewlix. We want to use Pinfest as a platform to engage locally and show people what gaming was always supposed to be about!

Tomorrow night from around 6:30 onwards, the Pinball Competition will commence. There are 50 spots open for competitors and they are filling up quick, so if you think your fast on the flipper and would like to compete, you will need to email the Newcastle Pinball Association at npa@people.net.au for information and competition details.
