The Naomi (New Arcade Operation Machine Idea) motherboard is based on the same system-architecture as the Sega Dreamcast. The Naomi motherboard uses a Hitachi SH-4 CPU, PowerVR Series 2 GPU and a Yamaha AICA based sound system.
A key feature of the Naomi motherboard is that multiple Naomi boards can be 'stacked' together to achieve better graphical performance, or a multi-monitor setup.
Naomi games either use only solid-state ROMs without a GD-ROM, or otherwise load data from a GD-ROM only once at the start of a game to avoid wear and tear on the hardware. Furthermore, Naomi is widely licensed for use by other manufacturers, and there are many examples of Naomi-based arcade games that are not Sega products.
Note: Sega Naomi Motherboard Only (Sega Parts 840-0016D-01) , no Rom board Included
